Ditch the Coffee: 2 Yummy Tea Recipes

I recently stopped drinking coffee in the morning. I still have a cup once in awhile, but not everyday. Maybe once a week, maybe. We should all try to have a glass of cold water first thing in the morning, but if you need something else (like me!) try these two tea recipes.

The chai is warm and yummy, might be a good replacement for your coffee. Experimenting with amounts of ingredients will result in your new favorite tea. Trust me.

The ginger tea is refreshing and soothes your throat. There are many benefits to adding ginger to your diet. It is anti-inflammatory, helping with joint pain, it reduces congestion in nose/throat, and it helps with nausea. Let’s look at ginger this way, if you are feeling blue, have some ginger. Seriously, it’s awesome. Buy whole ginger roots, peel the skin off, and place in the freezer. It will last months this way. Simply take the root out and peel some off each time you need it.

Chai Tea Latte
Chai tea (I use loose leaf tea&infuser)
ground ginger
cinnamon
milk (raw, full fat coconut, or almond)
100% organic Grade B maple syrup

Sprinkle some cinnamon and ginger in the bottom of mug. Add tea. Pour boiling water over tea, filling mug halfway. Allow to steep for 4-5 minutes. Add milk and a drizzle of maple syrup. Stir and enjoy. Simple. Creamy. Delicious.

Lemon-Ginger Tea
slice lemon
ginger root
honey, raw and local preferred

Using a vegetable peeler, place 3 slices of ginger and lemon slice in mug. Fill with boiling water. Allow to steep 3-4 minutes, add a drizzle of honey. Stir. Enjoy. Feel good.

  1. Andy, that's great. I've read a lot of books on habit and it is pretty crazy how much our habits control us, then pair it with caffeine and that's why so many of us can't live without our coffee! 🙂 I hope you find these teas help the transition. The chai is a good replacement. The ginger is good if you are feeling ill or just slow, it awakens the senses in a way 🙂
